A Dream of You, Just North of Here

Your hands engulf me in the frozen dusk,
Brush cracks beneath the weight of us.
Breath parts lips;
Unspoken words transcend the sky.
And I swallow your words wet.
And I swallow your words dry.

I want you in my chest and throat,
While the air is drenched in cedar smoke.

You course through my veins.

Branches bend low to hear
My mouth nibbling on your
Neck and
Ears.
I am flushed and buried
In the bold rising and falling of
You.

You are heavy quilts
And night sheets
Bathed in moonlight
When the world outside
Is watercolor.

You map my freckles
Like you're studying the stars.

Exhaust my body
Through morning
So
I never

Come awake.
